With a couple of videos posted on her Instagram account, the designer revealed that while browsing the Internet she came across an article about her husband and his family. “The title basically said there is no joy in my husband anymore. The only thing I can tell you right now is that that is far from the truth,” said the 45-year-old woman. “I need society and whoever is writing these stupid titles stop scaring people”, he continued in his defense.

“Stop making people panic, stop making them think that once you are diagnosed with a neurocognitive disease, everything is over. Don’t let them think: ‘that’s it, it’s over, there’s nothing more to do, we’re finished.’ No, it’s not like that, it’s quite the opposite”he added.

Heming explained that there is “a lot of grief and sadness” along the way, but also a lot of love, connection and joy between the family. “We are standing in that place,” she said. “So leave aside the stupid titles that scare people, stop making them, because there is nothing like that here, do you understand?” she concluded.

To reinforce the message, the designer wrote as an epigraph: “Two things can be true and exist at the same time. Pain and deep love. Sadness and deep connection. Trauma and resilience,” she wrote and continued, “I had to go out of my way to get here, but once I got here, life started to make sense and I felt truly motivated. There is so much beauty and soul in this story.”.

In addition to speaking openly about Bruce Willis’ diagnosis, the former model will also publish a book to help other people who are going through the same thing as her.

“When FTD (frontotemporal dementia), or any form of dementia, touches your life, it is difficult not to be forever changed by its impact. My hope is that this book provides comfort and hope to the next caregiver as they embark on their new journey or to those who, like me, are on it,” she wrote on Instagram when announcing the upcoming release of her book, due out next year .
