The actress drew Barrymore revealed that there was a situation that terrified her and that seemed taken from her movie ‘Scream’. On her talk show, the actress said that she went on a date with a man who “was someone she thought she knew,” and that she began to feel chills when she was overcome with a bad feeling that he was going to murder her.
“He was a very nice guy and since we had many acquaintances in common, that made me feel safe and I agreed to meet him,” she recalled, in a somewhat gloomy tone. “When we finish dinner, he suggests that we go to his apartment. If he had not met several people who know him, he would never have agreed, but I accepted.”
Once they left the restaurant where they had met and arrived at the mysterious gentleman’s house, he was in for a surprise.
“As soon as we walked in, I noticed it was in the middle of a remodel. And that, far from discouraging me, piqued my interest more: home design is my great passion and I discovered that it was also yours,” he explained. “And all of a sudden, we started walking through the house and down to the basement,” Barrymore continued, again changing the tone of his story.
“Why are you going to the basement?” his partner, Ross Mathews, interrupted, horrified. “Because I thought I knew this person!” responded the ‘ET’ actress. Her words, clearly, did not satisfy her co-worker, who shot: “You acted in ‘Scream’. Don’t you know what horror movies are like? This is the first step! “Don’t do that!” she scolded, as the studio audience applauded.
Barrymore’s anecdote continued and became more and more macabre: “Then we go to the basement, which is the laundry room. And because I’m a big laundry fan, he said, ‘Oh, you should see the laundry room, look at this!'” Once they arrived, she remembered seeing “a giant clear plastic wrapper”. “I can’t even explain how big she was! And I was in this room and I looked down and I just said, ‘I need to go back upstairs.'”
After returning to the ground floor of the apartment, Barrymore looked at her date and admitted that she had been terrified. “You know, I know we don’t really know each other, but I was really afraid that you were going to murder me.”the actress told him.
The strangest thing is that this comment, instead of creating distance between them, had the opposite effect. “The experience totally united us. From that moment on we started seeing each other here and there and we were great friends for a couple of years. But we always joked about it, about the night I thought he was going to murder me“, revealed the blonde.
In 2022, the actress had already mentioned other dates that had not ended well at all. Barrymore said that it made her want to start meeting men, but she revealed that not all of the encounters she had had up to that point had been promising.
