The Premier League English announced this Friday that it has postponed the seventh day from this weekend “with a sign of respect” for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
“To honor his extraordinary life and contribution to the nationand as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League games will be postponed, including the game on Monday night“, Said the competition in a statement.
In addition, he announced that the calendars of the next days that take place during the period of national mourning.
The head of the Premier, Richard Masterspointed out that the clubs want “pay tribute to His Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country.”
“As the longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy after a lifetime of dedication. It is a very sad moment not only for the nation, but for millions of people around the world who admired her.and we join those who mourn his death,” he said.
This Saturday the matches were scheduled to be played Fulham-Chelsea, Bournemouth-Brighton, Leicester-Aston Villa, Liverpool-Wolverhampton, Southampton-Brentford and Manchester City-Tottenham; on Sunday the Arsenal-Everton, West Ham-Newcastle and Crystal Palace-Manchester United matches; and on Monday Leeds-Nottingham.
This determination occurs after This Thursday the matches of the European competitions (Europa League and Conference League) will be played with British teams involved.
