Marco Reus announced this Friday that he will leave Borussia Dortmund after 12 years in the team.

The German midfielder, who has played most of his career in the yellow and black team, He expressed that he will be a free agent after the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Marco Reus has played a total of 424 games for Dortmund. He also has 168 goals and 128 assists over the 12 seasons.

The German footballer began his career with the Rot Weiss Ahlen team and there he made the jump to Borussia Monchengladbach. Then in 2012 he arrived at Dortmund, where he lived his best period.

Reus expressed, during a social media video, about his departure and assures that it will be difficult for him to say goodbye.

“I am incredibly grateful and proud for this special moment at my club, Borussia Dortmund. I spent more than half of my life at this club and I enjoyed every day, although of course there were difficult moments,” Reus commented.

I already know that it will be difficult for me to say goodbye at the end of the season. And yet I am glad that there is now clarity and we can fully concentrate on the important final matches that are still pending.

Borussia Dortmund is one victory away from qualifying for a new UEFA Champions League final after winning 1-0 in the first leg against Paris Saint Germain.

“We have a big goal in mind and we all want to achieve it together. For this we need each and every one of our incredible fans, “I would like to expressly thank them for their incredible support over the years,” he said.
