For Ricardo La Volpe: “The promoters are the evil of Mexican soccer” – La Opinion

In Mexican soccer it has been repeated ad nauseam that the problems that are affecting the Mexican team are the lack of quality young people who can nourish the Aztec team with possibilities of success. But the question is what is actually the cause? Precisely on this topic, the former technical director of the Mexican national team, Ricardo Antonio La Volpe He put his finger on the fact that this phenomenon is the fault of the promoters who prevent the majority of technicians from giving it opportunity for young players in Liga MX.

In chat with The opinion, La Volpe explained that: “I don’t have a representative and I know what happens, it is not easy to remove the foreigners and put that young Mexican that is breaking it, because the clubs already spent and there was an arrangement, that is the truth, but that is wrong and it is the Federation that has to lower the quota of foreigners to generate more Mexican players, because then we say, we do not go beyond fifth game in a World Cup, when the best midfielders, the best forwards, what are they?, are foreigners.”

And he added that: “One must remember that the normal thing was five foreigners, but now we don’t do that and there is another problem that I can say and that is the representatives (promoters). and they, apart from the fact that they sometimes put the coach, also bring the players.”

Lavolpe speaks with knowledge of the facts, especially with the most recent decisions of the directors of the Mexican soccer teams that they have prioritized the economic aspect over the sporting aspect and that has led to stagnation in many aspects of the competition itself.

So then how do you get them out? Are you going to take out the foreigner and are you going to put in the Mexican? At that moment you will see where the representative takes you later, nowhere. That’s the truth, that’s why I don’t have a representative, I never had a representative. Even the last time I was in América I spoke with Ricardo Peláez and agreed directly with him.”

Finally, he also specified that: “Sometimes it surprises me that Mexico does not have players, what happens is that sometimes it is difficult for the coaches to put them in the First Division and give them growth when they are breaking it in the Under 18, in the Sub 20 and they don’t give him a chance. But there is a reason and it is because there are a number of foreigners that there were not before, so before it was easier and you were forced to put more Mexicans.
