Joao Cancelo was pictured making a mistake against PSG after committing a penalty that gave him the advantage at the feet of Kylian Mbappé. After the error, thousands of fans sent aggressive comments including death threats.
The Portuguese pointed out that he received comments on his social networks from fans who wished the death of his unborn daughter.
“They told me everything. There are comments on Instagram wishing death on my unborn daughter. They don’t say that to my face, for sure, because we are going to have problems, but in comments they say whatever,” she commented in an interview with ESPN.
Cancelo expressed that he prefers to be criticized as a player, but threatening the family is something very delicate.
“It is clear that today’s world is cruel. Wishing the death of a baby is a very serious thing.. “That they criticize me as a player like Ferdinand did, whether I like it or not, but that they speak badly of my family… That they speak badly of me as a player, but not as a person.”

Portuguese winger Joao Cancelo, a Barcelona player, assured that his team has to “get up” of the defeat suffered against PSG in the Champions League and that if the Blaugrana win on Sunday “there is no better answer” they can give.
“I think it’s going to be a very important game, but the disaster that hit us in the game against PSG left us down. “We have to get up, stay positive and if we win on Sunday there is no greater response we can give,” he said in statements offered by the Barça club.
He predicts a “very important” match in which Barcelona needs to win to “get hooked” on the league title. “We know that it is a very difficult game and even more so playing away, but we are going to try until the end, I think this team deserves it,” he said.
Joao Cancelo described the human group that makes up the Barça team as “spectacular” and admitted feeling “delighted” to be part of it. “I think we deserve a victory like this, although we know it will be very difficult,” he insisted.
