Luiz Felipe Scolari would be a candidate for the Mexican National Team, according to reports from Brazil – La Opinion

The defeat of the Mexican National Team in the final of the Concacaf Nations League at the hands of the United States (2-0) Last weekend was a hard blow and generated some uncertainty regarding the continuity of Jaime Lozano at the head of the Aztec team.

However, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) was in charge of providing support to the Mexican coach to continue in his position for the Copa América in the United States that will take place between the months of June and July.

But now from Brazil they assured that there is a name that is on the table to soon occupy the position of Jaime Lozano. It would be none other than the experienced Luiz Felipe Scolari, according to a report by Radio Grenal.

On the official Radio Grenal account on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, a publication was made revealing the possibility of Luiz Felipe Scolari arriving at El Tri.

The experienced coach, 75 years old, was in charge of leading the Brazilian National Team to the championship in the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan. He is currently without a team after reaching an agreement to leave his position as head of the Brazilian Atlético Mineiro which arrived in 2023.

“He’s from Mexico. ‘Felipao’ will start a World Cup cycle. According to communicator Guto Lopes, the coach is close to being announced by the Mexican National Team. What do you think, fan? He comments “the aforementioned Brazilian radio wrote in a publication on its social networks.

Luiz Felipe Scolari was the last time in charge of a national team for a special occasion. It was the 2014 World Cup that took place in Brazil. However, he did not have a good memory of that experience with the tough elimination that Canarinha suffered in the semifinals against Germany (7-1).

Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari had two cycles at the head of the Brazilian National Team in which he will be remembered as a hero as well as a villain.

Would the Copa América be an ultimatum for Jaime Lozano?

Although there is no confirmation from the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), it is speculated that national coach Jaime Lozano would have the “obligation” to achieve a positive result in the Copa América in the United States to remain at the head of El Tri.

According to some reports, the expectation is that the Aztec team reaches the semifinals of the tournament so that the coach maintains his position. He has reached this level five times in his 10 participations in the contest. He even reached the final twice (1993 and 1996).

The Mexican team will be playing in the tournament that will take place between next June and July. It was placed within group B in which it will be together with the teams of Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica. Their games will be in Houston, Los Angeles and Arizona.
