Kansas City Chiefs hire a former Rugby player for next season

The champions Kansas City Chiefs signed former Welsh rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit to a three-year contract this Friday for the 2024 NFL season.

Rees-Zammit, 23, is a strong, fast and skilled player who shone with his country’s rugby team.

Last January he moved away from the sport that projected him to fame in Europe to join the NFL’s ‘International Player Pathway’ program that gives talents outside the United States the opportunity to seek a place in some of the 32 NFL teams.

The Welshman was one of the 15 members of the Generation 2024 of the ‘International Player Pathway’ that was shown before the talent scouts of the NFL teams on March 20 at the facilities of the University of South Florida; and he impressed them by running the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds.
