The Mexican national team in synchronized swimming managed to win the gold medal of the World Cup in Paris, the same city that will host the upcoming Olympic Games in the summer of this year, I feel this achievement provides extra motivation for the Aztec swimmers who managed to return to the country to the highest competition in that discipline.

Who makes up the national team?

The Mexican team is made up of swimmers Diosdado, Joana Jiménez, Regina Alférez, María Fernanda Arellano, Itzamary González, Luisa Rodríguez, Jessica Sobrino and Pamela Toscanos continue to achieve great successes and achievements for all of Mexico. The girls managed to obtain the gold medal by obtaining a score of 253.5379, leaving behind the Chinese team who finished the World Cup with 269.5369 and the Spanish team with 253.6042.

“Good afternoon Mexico! We debut the Olympic pool with a gold medal in technical equipment. Singing the national anthem here was amazing. Thanks to those who made our participation here possible,” was a message that Nuria Diosdado shared through her social networks.

Maximum motivation for the 2024 Olympic Games

Having managed to win the gold medal at the World Cup in Paris is undoubtedly some extra motivation for the Mexican mermaids since facing the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, any help, no matter how small, can be and make a difference and without a doubt this first place achieved is something quite positive and much more special after being crowned at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile in 2023, thus breaking a total drought of 30 years without having a full team in this discipline, the last time being at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.

The sirens of Mexico have been doing what it takes to stay in the elite worldwide in recent years, having won medals in the World Cup that took place in Egypt 2023, where there were 3 gold and one bronze.

Now the next mission without a doubt is to repeat the same successes and surpass them in the maximum sporting event that is the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where without a doubt the Mexican mermaids look like candidates to get a place on the podium and obviously the fixed goal is the gold medal.

The president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, María José Alcalá sent a message full of pride, joy and obviously congratulations to all the girls for their great logo at the World Cup: “Always proud of these great athletes. Win gold in the Artistic Swimming World Cup, beating China and Spain. My respects and may the successes continue towards Paris 2024.”

What is synchronized swimming?

Synchronized swimming, officially renamed artistic swimming by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) in 2017, is an aquatic discipline that combines swimming, dance and gymnastics. Athletes perform choreographed routines to the rhythm of music, where they can demonstrate their technical and artistic skills both on the surface of the water and below it.

This discipline is recognized for being one of the strongest in water sports. and where synchronization, strength, flexibility and aerobic capacity are of vital importance, in addition to having a high demand and importance of having precise coordination between the participants to finally perform the aquatic figures that are quite complex in the best way.

It can be done at the following levels: individual, duo and teams, and is one of the sports which are practiced exclusively by women in the Olympic Games, although mixed competitions have begun to gain popularity in recent years.
