The actress Olivia Munn shared her story of fighting breast cancer, for which she had to undergo four surgeries and a medically induced menopause to treat.
In an interview with People magazine, the star of ‘The Predator’ thanked the support she received during the battle and said she was happy to have the opportunity to continue enjoying motherhood.
“I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to fight“.
“When I’m with my son, it’s the only time my brain doesn’t think about being sick. I’m so happy with him. And he puts a lot of things into perspective. Because if my body changes, I’m still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I’m still his mom. If I lose my hair, I’m still his mom. That’s really what matters most to me. I can be here for him,” she explained.
The model also revealed that she has not been afraid of death after being informed of her diagnosis, however, the disease made her understand that it can affect anyone.
“She was not someone who was obsessed with death or afraid of it in any way. Having a baby at home made everything that much scarier because you realize that cancer doesn’t care who you are; It doesn’t matter if you have a baby or if you don’t have time. It’s coming at you and you have no choice but to face it head on.“he warned.
Munn reported in mid-March that he had undergone a double mastectomy for breast cancer, a decision that has made her reflect and that she classifies as one of the best she has made.
“I had amazing doctors, but sometimes I was in conversations about what we were doing. But I’m glad I did it. I want to give myself the best chance to keep the parts of myself I can keep.“He commented while remembering that health professionals told him that he could opt for nipple delay, although it was not so necessary.
Finally, Munn said that she preferred to keep her cancer and her battle private so that nothing from the outside would disturb her.
“Keeping it private for as long as I did it gave me the opportunity to fight without any outside noise,” he said.
