It was in 2014 when Raúl González told People en Español how excited he was to belong to Telemundo: “I will have my own variety show and entertainment for the whole family. Also, the possibility of hosting special programs and reality shows.”
“There were many people who received me very well and There were many people who did not receive me well, I think the perception was like ‘now they’re going to bring those over there to see if this goes away or we can do something.’ It was what I felt. There were two or three people that I am still in contact with because they were very special to me, They gave me a lot of love, a lot of support; but it was difficult”expressed in the podcast ‘Face to face with Rodner’.
Finally, in 2014 he received an offer from Telemundo to join their team of presenters, which represented an exciting challenge and an opportunity to grow professionally. Despite the criticism he received from some viewers, Raúl remained firm in his decision and dedicated himself to working hard on his new program.
“The first program we did was not even recorded, it was cancelled. It was a program to compete with Nuestra Belleza Latina, I animated it with Rashel. Later I wanted to make my own program, that program never happened. Afterwards we were able to do something called ¡Qué noche!, with Angélica Vale and this server; “The program did not turn out what they expected,” he told Figueroa during the conversation.
“Which I thanked him very much, but at that moment when my ego had already hit me, life had taken it upon itself to tell me that’s not how it is, it’s not here, I said ‘look, if I know anything right now it’s what I don’t want.’ do and andor I wouldn’t want to do the morning of Telemundo, not out of contempt or anything but because I left there to do something else. I left the morning to do something else.’ And then someone I love very much told me ‘look, Raúl, whoever is leaving right now on television, it is most likely that he will not return.’ And I told him ‘look, I am very grateful to you, but at least that is what I…’. And I left in December,” he said.
González assures that he is grateful for all the opportunities he has had in his career and for the support of his audience over the years. Despite the ups and downs and challenges he has faced, he continues to feel blessed to be able to dedicate himself to what he is most passionate about: television.
“I return to Univision not to do Despierta América, they don’t offer me a contract, I return to do Teletón. Luz María Doria (executive producer of Despierta América), who is a woman I love, told me ‘let’s do something, come for a week to promote that you are going to be on Telethon and see what people’s reaction is’ . And the reaction was extremely positive,” she added.
