Santiago Giménez was a sensation last Sunday on matchday 15 of the Eredivisie as he scored in Feyenoord’s 3-0 victory against Groningen. In addition to scoring goals, the Mexican striker also spreads joy and surprised a small rival fan by signing his shirt after the match.
As soon as the game was over, Giménez prepared to go to the stands to share a moment with the fans and ran into a boy wearing the Groningen shirt. Without any kind of problem, the Aztec striker signed his shirt.
The episode became known thanks to the dissemination of a video on Feyenoord’s social networks. There the ‘Bebote’ can be seen giving autographs to the fans and once this little rival fanatic received his signature, his mouth dropped open and he shared his astonishment with the other children who were around.
“How to make a young fan happy”, wrote the Twitter account of the Dutch club when sharing the audiovisual that exceeded 70,000 reproductions.
Santiago Giménez surprises in the Netherlands
After not being called up by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino to play in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the former Cruz Azul striker has had good performances with the Dutch team. On Sunday he scored a goal in stoppage time after winning a struggle against the rival, controlling the ball with his head and entering the area to finish off with his left foot.
Giménez has been a piece widely used by his coach, but as a revulsion entering the second parts. Something that DT himself recently aired at a press conference by assuring that he was a better substitute than a starter.
The ‘Chaquito’ squad is listed as the leader of the Eredivisie thanks to this latest victory. The Mexican has scored three goals so far this season in the local tournament and four in the UEFA Europa League during the group stage. It should be remembered that the young attacker has barely been in the Netherlands for six months, after arriving from Cruz Azul.
