Shakira is free! Spanish Prosecutor’s Office asks to file case against the singer for alleged tax fraud – El Diario NY

After years of disputes and conflicts between Shakira and the Spanish prosecutor’s officethe Colombian singer “scored” a “triumph” after the same constitutional body requested to archive the second case opened against the Colombian.

Through a statement, it was revealed that the Barcelona Provincial Prosecutor’s OfficeSpecialized Section for Economic Crimes, requested the filing of the proceedings against the “Día de Enero” interpreter for alleged tax fraud in 2018.

However, and according to the same Prosecutor’s Officethis will not prevent the debt that the artist maintains with Tax authorities under the concept of personal income tax (IRPF).

What will happen to the case against Shakira?

According to information revealed by the international media EFE, in addition to the request to archive the case opened against Shakirait was also asked to “end” the other two private accusations that remained against the South American: that of the Government of the region of Catalonia and that of the State Attorney’s Office.

As mentioned by the same medium, the main reason why the Prosecutor’s Office decided to “take this step” would be due to the lack of “sufficient evidence” to commit a crime. The Prosecutor’s complaint accused the singer of defrauding the Tax agencywith more than 5 million dollars, corresponding to personal income tax, for the income obtained from his 2018 international tour, “El Dorado”, as well as for the transfer of his musical rights and the diversity of real estate and financial assets he owned in that time.

This action, logically, would mean a “breath of fresh air” for the artist after last November she decided to reach an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office by pleading guilty to defrauding more than 14.5 million dollars between 2012 and 2014.

For this reason, and with the intention of not stepping into a European prison, the “Waka Waka” singer accepted the payment of a fine of more than 7.8 million dollars.

After this resolution, the singer, who was ready to face the trial at the beginning, declared that her decision originated from the request of her children, Milan and Sashafruits of his relationship with former footballer Gerard Piqué, who asked him to put everything aside and focus on the family.

Despite the above, various specialized media revealed that the artist had reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office with the intention of avoiding a trial where various personal and private moments of his life would be revealed that could affect his public image.

Until now, and after the revelation of the Prosecutor’s Officethe Colombian singer has not reacted or published information regarding the decision.
