A Tennessee mother is mourning the death of her daughter, who died when a gun went off in the woman’s purse while she was searching for her keys.
Nashville police say DeAnn Radley reported the death of his daughter, Dearria Radley13 years old, arguing that it was an accident.
“Midtown Hills Precinct Officers responded to a 911 call and provided immediate aid to Dearria before she was transported by ambulance to the Vanderbilt Pediatric Emergency Room, where she died from a single gunshot wound,” the Metropolitan Police Department said. of Nashville in a press release.
“In an interview at police headquarters, Dearria’s mother told detectives that her unholstered .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol was in her purse with other items. She said that It went off when I was trying to get my keys out of my bag.”, details the document.
Radley told local NBC affiliate WSMV that he is living a nightmare. “My world is falling apart. “I loved that girl very much.”he declared.
She recalled that she was looking for her keys when a gun went off in her purse. “I didn’t know my gun was loaded in my bag and it went off through it… Then I saw the blood,” she said.
The woman remembered her daughter as a girl who loved spending time with her family and singing. “I want her to be remembered for that angelic voice and those beautiful eyes… This is something I’m not prepared for.“I just want to hug my baby,” he commented.
Radley launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his daughter’s funeral expenses.
Police say no charges have been filed, but an investigation by the police department’s Youth Services Division continues. Tennessee law does not require a permit to carry a firearm, whether openly or concealed.
