This Thursday night, April 18 A portion of the iconic Timberline Lodge hotel in Mount Hood, Oregon, caught fire. All media report that firefighters prevented the fire from destroying the place in its entirety.

This hotel is known for having served as a recording set for the movie ‘The Shining’ (1980). In the fiction, starring Jack Nicholson, the place was called the Overlook Hotel.

According to the authorities The fire started in the attic of the 55,000-square-foot building.. It must be remembered that this hotel first opened in the late 1930s.

“The fire at Timberline Lodge was declared under control at 11:12 p.m. The fire remained in the roof and part of the attic, and did not spread further. Crews are clearing the scene. The US Forest Service will carry out the investigation with the help of federal resources,” Clackamas Fire reported on its X (formerly Twitter) account.

To calm the fire they had to work for two hours. Another team was in charge of removing historical works and furniture what’s in the hotel.

At the moment it is unknown what caused the fire, but one theory points to the embers in the fireplace.
