Miguel Herrera is a respected coach in Mexican soccer. However, his presence in Liga MX is not very successful. The former coach of the UANL Tigers has not been able to win its first match in the Clausura 2024 tournament.

In command of the Xolos of Tijuana, the “Piojo” comes from equalize in the last matchday 1-1 with Club León. This result meant the tenth consecutive game without being able to add three units. In fact, if these results are added to those of the previous campaign, the figure rises to twelve games.

It is now impossible to deny that the Xolos de Tijuana have problems within Mexican soccer. Miguel Herrera himself recognized the bad moment that the club is experiencing with him in charge.

This is the worst tournament I have ever had as a coach. We have to work while the board is supporting the project, we have nothing left but to work and demand more from the boys. Today, those who are injured must try to recover as soon as possible… everyone on this team has played,” Herrera acknowledged at a press conference.

The bad numbers of “Piojo”

In 2016, Miguel Herrera already had a stint on the Xolos de Tijuana bench. At that time his results were quite good. “El Piojo” won 33 games of the 74 he directed. But these figures are not close to the current figures for La Frontera as a whole.

In his current process with the Xolos of Tijuana, Miguel Herrera has already directed 40 games. During that number of meetings “Piojo” has taken victory in 8 of them. Herrera has only harvested 11 pairs and the other 21 games have been defeats.

“If we go to the games, suddenly we will have fewer points than we intended to have or what we did to have them, We played a great game against Monterrey and we couldn’t win itToday we had a great first half, they had three goals in the second half, the goal and a couple of saves from Toño… but before we had to have put ourselves forward“he explained.

The next meeting for the La Frontera team will be this Sunday March 10. On this date, the Xolos of Tijuana They will visit the UNAM Pumas at the University Olympic Stadium. This will be a new opportunity for Miguel Herrera to achieve the first victory of Clausura 2024.
