Tragedy in San Francisco: A couple and their son were run over and killed at a bus stop – La Opinion

A San Francisco couple and their young son died after a van crashed into a stop while waiting for a bus to take them to the city zoo, according to authorities.

The Saturday afternoon accident in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco also left three people injuredincluding the couple’s baby who survived but is hospitalized in critical condition, according to local media KGO.

“We don’t know if the driver had a medical emergency; all of that is under investigation,” San Francisco Fire Chief Janine Nicholson told reporters at the scene.

Rogerio Faleiro, a local resident who claimed to know the victims, told KGO that the parents “were taking care of their children and were going to the zoo to spend a nice day in the park” when they were hit by the truck.

Police confirmed that a man and a child died at the scene of the accident. The third victim, a woman, later died at a hospital.

Since then A monument has been erected at the bus stop in honor of the victims.

The driver of the white Mercedes SUV that crashed into the bus stop was among those hospitalized, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said Saturday it was investigating the cause of the crash in collaboration with the San Francisco Police Department.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed described the incident as a “tragic collision.”

“I just visited the scene and it is heartbreaking. “We will share more information when we can, but right now our focus is on the victims and their families,” Breed posted on x.
