France became the first team to secure their qualification to the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar 2022 after the 2-1 victory against Denmark with 2 goals from Kylian Mbappé and thus reaching 3 scores in Qatar 2022 tied with Enner Valencia from Ecuador.
Denmark came into this match after two consecutive victories against France in the UEFA Nations League. In the 2018 World Cup in Russia, both drew goalless in the group stage, now they took revenge with a 2-1 victory.
In the first half, France had more of the ball and had the best chances against goalkeeper Schmeichel, but it was in the second half that both teams found the key to the goal. At minute 61, Theo Hernández started a play on the left wing and joined Mbappé in a wall which he defined from the right to add his second goal of the tournament after converting against Australia.
But France’s lead only lasted 7 minutes, after a goal from a set piece. In a corner at minute 68Andreas Christensen equalized with a header that Hugo Lloris could do nothing to stop the shot.
Kylian Mbappé would have the last word after he took advantage of a great cross from Antoine Griezmann pto push with the thigh and thus score the final 2-1 that gave victory to the current world champions who ensure their stay in the round of 16.
For its part, Denmark is left on the tightrope with only one point out of six possible and must win against Australia which is in second place with 3 units after defeating Tunisia. France will face Tunisia although it is already registered among the best 16 of Qatar 2022 with Kylian Mbappé as its leader.
