Yoshinobu Yamamoto obtained his first victory with the Los Angeles Dodgers and his first in his Major League career.

The Japanese dominated the Chicago Cubs in 5.0 innings, without runs and 8 strikeouts. Yamamoto is the eighth Japanese to score a victory for the Dodgers franchise.

The last pitcher to win a game with the Dodgers was Kenta Maeda in the 2016 season. Maeda holds the record for most debut year wins with 16.
