Authorities reported that A 13-year-old Pennsylvania girl confessed that she killed her mother and stabbed her 11-year-old brother during an argument..

Lataya Powell allegedly admitted to the crime when officers responded around 12:30 p.m. Friday to a home on South Sherman Street in Wilkes-Barre, Local 21 reported.

“I killed my mother and she will never forgive me if she is alive,” the young woman told the officers, according to the criminal complaint cited by the outlet.

His mother, later identified as Tameeka Tucker, suffered apparent injuries to her torso and head.according to the police.

Meanwhile, his 11-year-old brother was found lying on a living room couch with stab wounds in his back. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to the news outlet.

Powell was arrested at the scene and charged as an adult with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and tampering with evidencereported the Local 21.

Police did not find knives or cutting instruments when they arrived, but they did notice kitchen drawers and cabinets with padlocks. One of them appeared to be broken and there was a padlock on the floor, according to an arrest affidavit cited by WBRE.

When Powell was confronted by police, she told them she threw the gun at a neighbor’s door.

“I am the reason my mother is dead. “I don’t know how people can do things like this and not feel bad about it,” the young woman told police, according to the affidavit cited by the outlet.

Footage released by the media outlet shows the girl telling a reporter that she felt “regret, guilt and disgust for herself” before being placed in a patrol car.

A neighbor who found the knife on her porch said she was working in her backyard at the time of the gruesome crime.

“I’m thankful I wasn’t here because you never know what could have happened, but I think something good could come out of this and she can get the help she needs,” the unidentified woman told Local 21 News.

“My prayers are with the family and I am sorry this happened,” the neighbor added.
