América drew 1-1 against Pachuca in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal. The Águilas are not going through a good rhythm and will close themselves to the media for the end of the season.

The azulcrema team will not be attending to the media for the closing of the Liga MX and the second leg against Pachuca in the Concachampions, according to ESPN.

Álvaro Fidalgo commented after the tie against Pachuca that they are not happy and even more so with the tie-breaking goal that counts for the tie-breaking criterion.

“(The draw) I don’t think it’s anything to be happy about either, the goal was to win. We are not happyToday we should have won. Pachuca did things very well,” mentioned Álvaro Fidalgo.

América closes the regular phase this Friday against Puebla, match that if they achieve victory they can stay in first place in the regular table and advance directly to the Liguilla.

The Águilas have 32 points the same as Toluca, but they have one more goal in favor. The Diablos Rojos face Cruz Azul at the Nemesio Díez on the last date of the Clausura Tournament.

Álvaro Fidalgo highlights that the media discourse changes after the defeat

Álvaro Fidalgo told the media to change the discourse radically during the last week after the defeats against Pumas and the draw against Pachuca.

“We are all fine, united, together. The last two games did not happen. A week ago they said we were going to win everything, because we beat Toluca 5-1. The other day against Pumas we didn’t win and now neither do we and it seems like everything is falling apart, but it’s not like that,” he highlights.

“It’s normal, because it’s the greatness of Ame, that you can’t afford anything other than winning. There is another rival that plays, does things well and in the end you don’t always get the results you want,” he said.

The América attacker stressed that they have to go and win in Pachuca because it is an obligation to reach the Concacaf final Champions Cup.

“It is an obligation for us to have to go and win in Pachuca… because we are America. “We cannot settle for going there for a draw and we have to go and win the game,” he concluded.
