“Carano’s presence as a featured actress in “The Mandalorian” interfered with Disney’s decision not to produce a show associated with her beliefs.”
Carano, with the help of Elon Musk, sued Disney for firing her from the project, accusing discrimination and retaliation at work for giving political opinions.
The motion stated that Disney’s decision should be defended with First Amendment rights, which “demand deference to the speaker’s own decisions about what speech to associate with, even if others might consider those decisions ‘internally inconsistent.’ Carano therefore cannot bring a discrimination claim alleging that Disney accorded different treatment to other statements from different actors.”
