Eric Adams considers it “despicable” that American schools allow another flag to be flown – La Opinion

Eric Adams, mayor of New York, expressed his rejection of the fact that American students allow another flag to be flown in their universities as a sign of support for Palestine and in opposition to the military offensive that Israel is developing against the Islamic group Hamas, in the Gaza Strip

While supporting the members of the New York Police Department (NYPD) for having participated in the dissolution of the pro-Palestinian protests by arresting nearly 300 citizens on the campus of Columbia University, The African-American democrat attacked university students who, without knowing the facts, defend other nations over their own.

During a press conference, Adams He became enraged when he was shown several videos where students from Columbia University and the City College of New York replaced an American flag with a Palestinian one.

“That’s our flag, friends. You don’t take over our buildings and put up another flag. That may be okay for other people, but it’s not okay for me.“, he expressed.

Then, The 63-year-old politician stated that, the way in which some university students were demonstratingcould be interpreted as an insult to those who have defended the interests of the nation at the mercy of even surrendering their existence.

“My uncle died defending this country and these men and women risked their lives, and it is despicable that schools allow another country’s flag to fly in our country.

So blame me for being proud to be an American. We are not giving our way of life to anyone,” he stressed.

It should be noted that, since last week, student protests against Israel and in support of Palestinian civilians who suffer from the losses of more than 34,600 fellow humans, mostly women and children, have increased throughout the United States in at least 150 educational institutions.

In fact, the authorities point out that among those who have raised their voices in rejection of violence in the Middle East are several activists outside of universities.

For this reason, other educational centers such as the University of Florida have taken on the task of regulating protests under threat of suspending those who violate certain provisions, such as holding permanent sit-ins by setting up tents on campus or well using speakers.
