“Felix”, the kitten “employee” of a train station, died after 12 years of service


On December 3, news shocked an entire county of England, and the famous cat named Felix, who “held” the position of “pest controller” at the Trans Pennine Express (TPE) West Yorkshire trainpassed away.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved FelixOn Sunday night, he went to sleep peacefully, in the loving comfort of Angie Hunte (station manager) and Jacqui Cox (station team leader)”.

Felixwho was born in 2011, that same year he “joined” as another member of the workers at the station. Trans Pennine Express (TPE). The employees were very sad about the death of the kitten, who in a Facebook post invited those who wanted to leave their condolences to do so in said post.

“A fitting tribute and memorial will be organized for Felix in due course, the station team needs time to process and grieve this profound loss.”

In addition, the station workers announced that the money raised from the purchases of the famous calendars of Felix and Bolt (another kitten at the station) will go to an animal charity under Felix’s name.

It was a black and white cat, however, it was given a male name because the staff thought it was male. Felix He always wore a high-visibility jacket and a TPE name tag, even making use of a unique cat flap that allowed him to avoid the station’s barriers.

The kitten spent her days hunting mice, meeting travelers and collecting cat treats. She went viral since 2015 when traveler Alan Hind came across her. Felix during his daily trips between Huddersfield and Manchester.

In this way, Alan created a Facebook page to Felix and since then he has gained 170,000 followers.

Angie Hunte, Huddersfield station manager, and Jacqui Cox, Huddersfield station team leader, were the ones who sought the most. Felix. Even a train was named after the kitten.

‘Felix was more than a cat, she was a beloved member of our station family and left her footprints in the hearts of many travelers as they passed through the station.’ Angie said.
