Ford and Lincoln recall 280,000 vehicles for brake leaks

Ford is recalling more than 280,000 SUVs and trucks equipped with its 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine because of the possibility of a brake fluid leak. This recall affects the 2016-2017 Ford Expedition and Ford F-150 trucks, as well as the 2016-2017 Lincoln Navigator..

What specifically is the problem?

The problem specifically stems from contaminated brake fluid eating away at the seals in the brake master cylinder and allowing the fluid to bypass them. While any brake problem is serious, this particular problem is unlikely to cause sudden brake failure, and many customers may not notice the problem until they see a warning on their dash and hear a warning chime .

Ford will provide an easy and free solution

The fix for this is quite simple and involves your Ford dealer replacing the leaking master cylinder with a new one, as well as replacing the vehicle鈥檚 brake fluid. This repair will be done free of charge.
