The judge investigating the contract that brought the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia has ordered block an account of the company Kosmos Football SLowned by the former Barcelona player Gerard Piquéin which still receives payments from the Saudi entity Sela for alleged “success commissions.”

In an order dated Monday, to which EFE has had access, the head of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Majadahonda (Madrid) agrees to the Prosecutor’s request to block the aforementioned account by estimating “that from the development of the investigation it is possible to consider as legally controversial the amounts set as a commission or success fee in favor of the aforementioned entity in the contracting of the Super Cup.”

The judge explains that the measure aims for the Saudi entity Sela Company Sport to continue “making the corresponding income, as it has been doing until now”, but Kosmos Football is prevented from having the “referred amounts” with the aim of ensuring possible civil liabilities in the procedure.

The Super Cup contract is one of those investigated by the judge, who already requested judicial assistance from the authorities of the Principality in October 2022 in search of data on a bank account of FC Andorra – mostly owned by Piqué – in the Mora Banc entity.

In the order issued now, the judge recalls that The Kosmos company is one of those investigated for alleged crimes of business corruption, unfair administration and money laundering.and that the case is investigating the contract between the RFEF, Kosmos and Sela Company Sport “to negotiate the celebration of the Super Cup competition in Saudi Arabia, dated September 11, 2019.”

“Within the framework of said contract, apparently, a series of addendums to the Super Cup agreements were formalized, through which the aforementioned company was linked as the recipient of a commission in the amount of three million euros per edition (success bonus)“, Add.

The judge believes that “in accordance with the interests of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, it is considered necessary and essential for the purposes of this investigation, agree to block the requested banking product in order to guarantee any civil liabilities arising from this procedure“.

This decision comes a few days after Luis Rubiales testifies in court as being investigated, who is scheduled for April 29 in the framework of this case, in which a series of possible irregularities in contracts linked to the RFEF when he was in charge of the federative entity.
