It is known that requesting taxi services at any airport can have a high cost, and a Canadian tourist did not hesitate to expose a taxi driver who wanted to charge him for an overpriced trip in Cancun.

Xavier Cornier uploaded a series of videos on his social networks where he accuses that a taxi driver charged him a thousand dollars for a trip from terminal 3 to terminal 4 at the Cancun International Airport, in Quintana Roo.

“I can’t believe this is so horrible, your country is really bad, I can’t continue being scammed,” said the foreigner while also requesting the presence of a police officer.

In the third of his videos, he assured that the taxi driver also intended to steal his luggage, because when he got out of the car to call some authority that could help him, the driver tried to start the car.

“Luckily I got in the car and almost broke my leg to get my luggage back,” he said.

Throughout the videos, it is seen that airport security elements come to help the foreign tourist after he has been requesting it for several minutes.

I was still in the car and the situation escalated at the Terminal 4 where I managed to get the attention of the tourist and traveler waiting for their flights. When the taxi saw the security he tried to escape with me and my luggage in the car but I managed to jump in the front of the car and shift the transmission into Park which almost resulted in a car accident. The airport security arrived just in time before situation got even more crazy. I filled out a report number against the driver and the taxi airport, I believe some of the cops and security agent over there where also in the scam because they wanted me to go the police station to press charge against the driver but to only get rid of my story and all the proof I have against the scam system at the airport including Security and the Airport Taxi Company. I believe if I would stop the car in time something even worst was waiting for me. Are these scammers still working at the Cancun Airport?! If yes help stop this corrupted system and DO NOT TRAVEL TO MEXICO!🇲🇽⚠️

In one of his videos, Xavier assures that the Airport security elements could also be involved in the scam for more than a thousand dollars.

“I filled out a report number against the driver and the airport taxi, I think some of the police and security officers there were also in on the scam because they wanted me to go to the police station to file charges against the driver, but I only to get rid of it,” he said.

They accuse bad taxi service in Cancun

This caused several cases of overpricing at different airports by transportation services to come to light in the comments of their videos.

“It’s like that, in Cancun there has always been that problem, they don’t do anything! For tourists it is better to pay in advance for a transfer with specialized companies” and “The taxis at the Cancun airport are the worst I have experienced”, are some of the comments that have been made.
