The Mallorca of Javier “Vasco” Aguirre lost 1-0 against FC Barcelona before a great goal from Lamine Yamal, the 16-year-old. Aguirre praised Yamal’s goal and compared it to Messi talking about rats.

Aguirre, when asked about Lamine Yamal, recalled the first time he saw Leo Messi play, 21 years ago: “He was with the Barça youth team. I saw him for five minutes and he was a rat, he didn’t stop scoring goals. This scoundrel also looks like a rat.”

The coach made the journalists laugh in the press room, but he did not make the comparison to insult the players, but rather because of how young and talented these two footballers seem.

“He is young, I know they work very well here with young people, and if this continues like this he will be a player who will bring a lot of joy to Can Barça. He is a player who defines matches. Today he gave the three points and it is not the first time,” he commented.

The Mallorca coach explained that he is leaving “proud of the work”, but “pissed off by the defeat”, although he stressed that the team has been “on the right track for a few games” and praised the team’s “commitment”. “I have 24 lions that fight and do not give up. Except for one match in LaLiga, we have competed,” he highlighted.

Lamine Yamal, a young record in La Liga

Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal, author of the great goal that gave his team the victory against Mallorca (1-0) in the match that opened the 28th day of LaLiga EA Sports, is the player who has scored the most goals in the history of the competition before turning 17.

According to data from BeSoccer Pro, the Barça youth player tops this ranking with 4 goals scored in 28 games. It follows Ansu Fati, author of 2 goals in the 6 games who also played for Barça before turning 17.

Iker Munain also scored 2 goals in 8 games defending the Athletic Club shirt before reaching that age. And the other two footballers who have scored in LaLiga before the age of 17 are Fabrice Olinga (Málaga) and Xisco Nadal (Villarreal), both with one goal each, in two and five games, respectively.

Lamine Yamal continues to break all precocity records and, with his starts this Friday against the Mallorcan team, he doubles the second place in the ranking of footballers with the most games played in the history of La Liga before the age of 17.
