The legal dispute does not end and Juan Rivera acted against the children of his deceased sister because he sued them in response to a prior letter he received from his nephews in which they claimed rights to Jenni’s music. Therefore, he alleged that this process they took was unfounded and that apparently they have no right over it.
“People believe that everything is necessarily for money, for ambition. We must recognize that there are more valuable things: family. Here that was already broken, here we all lost,” she said in an interview with ‘Despierta América’.
“There is no doubt that one hundred percent of what Jenni owned belongs to my nephews, that is theirs. But just because Jenni, my sister, was the voice or the artist on a record doesn’t mean that it belongs to her one hundred percent. “My dad owns what he recorded,” he said.
Juan expressed his sadness about the situation and the lack of communication between him and his sister’s children, but stated that he is willing to reach an agreement that benefits both parties. At the moment, the case is in the legal process and there is no final resolution.
“The will clearly says that everything that she owns is for my nephews. My nephews have several songs on my sister’s records that my dad owns. “My nephews may not know that, but in the lawsuit they will find out,” expressed to Univision.
Additionally, Rivera emphasized that his goal is to honor Jenni Rivera’s legacy and protect her music and image. Although the situation is complicated, Juan was optimistic and confident that everything will be resolved fairly.
“When they released the Mission Accomplished album, they have several images of my sister there on the cover, that belongs to my dad. They were warned, they were told: they are launching something that does not belong to them,” he added during the interview.
