The actress Melissa Barrera She was fired from the “Scream” franchise due to her publications related to the war between Israel and Palestine.
Now, the Mexican said, in an interview for The Hollywood Reporter, that it was in Dublin, during the recording of the movie “Abigail”, when she received a call from the Spyglass production company informing her that she was fired from the seventh installment about the masked killer.
“It was all sad because I really care deeply about the franchise. It’s just bad that it had to happen like this.“Barrera said.
The producer pointed out that the Mexican was not fired for supporting Palestine, but because her publications were interpreted as antisemites.
“I was very confused, but I was very lucky. I had a lot of support from the people around me: my team and specifically my publicists, they just supported me,” she added.
With that same help she received, now the protagonist of the series “Keep Breathing” strives to support other people who face violent reactions for expressing themselves online.
“Now when I see someone going through something like that, I am constantly vigilantbecause I know how it feels,” he said.
Will Melissa Barrera return to “Scream”?
Despite the scandal, Melissa Barrera does not rule out the possibility of reprising the character of Sam Carpenter in one of the future “Scream” films.
