“Memo” Ochoa returns to a Salernitana call-up that falls back into Serie A – La Opinión

Salernitana is still unable to raise its head but this Friday it had the Mexican goalkeeper again Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa who was a substitute during the defeat suffered by his team during their visit to Lazio (4-1) in the match that opened matchday 32 of Serie A.

The experienced goalkeeper had been left out of the call in the last three games of the Salerno team, which this Friday added its 22nd defeat in 32 games played so far in the Italian tournament where they continue to sink into the last place in the classification.

“Memo” Ochoa, who has not played with Salernitana since last March 9 in a loss against Cagliari (4-2), is not going through his best moment in the Italian team to which he joined last season and from which he will leave end of the current campaign after reaching an agreement with the club’s board.

Shortly before there was speculation about the Mexican’s possible departure, a situation that was confirmed several weeks ago, his current status at Salernitana began to falter. Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa He was the owner of the team’s goal but the technical changes worked against him.

The Mexican has played 20 games with the team that seems to be clearly condemned to relegation (in the absence of mathematical confirmation). Initially health problems, with a shoulder injury, and then technical decisions ended up dethroning him from the starting eleven.

However, this lack of continuity in his team does not seem to affect his role within the Mexican National Team where “Memo” Ochoa is the goalkeeper. This was demonstrated by Jaime Lozano by giving him the title in the two matches corresponding to the Final Four of the Nations League played last month.

It will be necessary to see if the goalkeeper continues without action in Salernitana in the remainder of the season, about six games between now and the end of the Italian tournament, to know if “Memo” Ochoa will continue to be the undisputed starter in the goal of the America’s Cup in the United States to be played between June and July.

Lazio hit hard at home

With a double from Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson, Lazio was left with a resounding victory against Salernitana (4-1) that allows the Romans to maintain the hope of getting into the fight for places in European competition next season.

In addition to the two goals from the Brazilian, Lazio had goals from Matías Vecino and Gustav Isaksen to end up with a victory against a Salernitana that tried to react with a goal from Loum Tchaouna when they were down 2-0 but that did not help much against the Roman offensive.
