Quentin Tarantino revealed that Johnny Depp was on a list of possible actors for the cast of his film ‘Pulp Fiction’ (‘Violent Times’).
This was due to the fact that the name of Johnny Depp appears on the “wish list” posted on social networks, for which reason Tarantino was questioned about his decision not to give the role to the protagonist of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, selecting to Tim Roth to play Pumpkin.
“I didn’t know exactly who I wanted to play which role, so I wrote a giant list of names. I wanted everyone to be pre-approved by the studio and I didn’t know if it would work, if I would like to vibe with the person, or even if they would do a good job, but I wanted them to be approved.Tarantino said.
The studio also questioned Roth’s choice over Depp at the time, placing the condition on Tarantino that they would not offer Roth the role until the other candidates for the role turned it down.
“Do you think that Johnny Depp playing the role of Pumpkin in this movie, which is the opening scene and the closing scene, nothing else, do you think that adds a lot to the box office?” was the filmmaker’s response to be able to include Roth in the cast of ‘Pulp Fiction’ and reject Depp.
