‘La Orejona’, as the UEFA Champions League Cup is usually called, will have a new owner after the final between the Spanish team, Real Madrid, and the German team, Borussia Dortmund.
The match will be taking place next Saturday, June 1st at the facilities of the legendary Wembley stadium, which is located in London, England and promises to be an impressive spectacle from start to finish. It should be noted that this will be the 8th Champions League final that Wembley will host.
How did they get to the final?
The White House club defeated Bayern Munich 2 goals to 1 at the Santiago Bernabéu in an impressive second leg match in the semi-finals, after in the first leg they agreed to 2 goals per side in Germany. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund managed to seal its ticket to the grand final after beating Paris Saint Germain of Kylian Mbappé and Luis Enrique from the bench in the semifinals, in a series that ended 2-0 in favor of the German club.
History of Madrid and Dortmund in finals
Real Madrid will be playing the 18th final in the Champions League in all of history of the club and so far has 14 orejonas, so the mission is clear for those led by the Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti; look for number 15 for the merengue club showcase.
For its part, Borussia Dortmund will play its third Champions League final and has 1 championshipachieved in the 1996/1997 season when the Germans left the legendary Juventus of Turin of Italy on the road 3 goals to 1 with scores from Lars Ricken and a double from Karñ Heinz Riedle.

Finals at Wembley
Wembley has already enjoyed seven champions and will host an eighth when the Spanish club and German will meet on June 1 of this year. In 1963 Milan celebrated, in ’68 a local team (the ‘Red Devils’ of Manchester United); in ’71, Ajax from Holland; in 1978 Liverpool of the Premier League; in 1992 the Fútbol Club Barcelona, as in 2011; and in 2013 Bayern Munich, after beating precisely the same Borussia Dortmund, is going for revenge, although it will not have an easy time against a team like today’s Real Madrid that looks unbeatable and quite inspired from every point of view.
