One of the aspects that have always characterized the Mexican Formula 1 driver, Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez, is his nationalism and his resounding support for his fellow citizens regardless of the area where they stand out. The Miami Grand Prix recently took place and the Red Bull Racing driver was commenting on his thoughts about the Mexican artist, Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, better known as ‘Peso Pluma’, as well as the Regional Mexican genre, one that has had increasing popularity in recent years.
RBD and Luis Miguel in the life of the pilot
It is well known that ‘Checo’ Pérez is a fan of the music of the group RBD to the point having attended several of the band’s concerts at the Azteca Stadium during the past month of December, something that happened in the same way with another of his favorite artists such as Luis Miguel. In this way, the man from Guadalajara has left his taste for pop music in Spanish for granted.
In an interview for CNN Español, Pérez was asked if he liked listening to Peso Pluma during his free and relaxing time, but the Mexican pilot was forceful in making it clear that he does not listen to his music, given that it is not a genre that he likes or that he follows very much.
Much respect and admiration for the singer
“I have a lot of admiration for him, but it’s not the type of music I listen to. Obviouslywho is a Mexican, it is incredible what he is doing with music in such a difficult market, but I like the type better: Carlos Rivera, Alejandro Sanz, Alejandro Fernández, I like that type of music the most.”
The most recent runner-up in the world in Formula 1, quite emphasized that his taste Latin Pop is what comes first in the line of musical preferences, since he stated that it is a style that gives him a lot of peace and tranquility. Furthermore, he remembered that in past years he had the habit of going to karaoke to sing several of his favorite songs in those years.
“I really like Latin Pop in general. I like all Latin artists, I like music that allows me to be as calm as possible in situations that are very stressful […] I’m not much into karaoke, but I do like it, before I liked it more, I spent more time in karaoke, now less. But with some tequilas, the artist in me comes out,” concluded the Red Bull Racing driver.
