Robert Downey Jr. wins the Oscar for “best supporting actor” for ‘Oppenheimer’ – El Diario NY

The race for Oscar award In the category of “best supporting actor” there were nominations for: Sterling K. Brown for his role in “American Fiction”, Robert De Niro for “Killers of the Flower Moon”, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss in the film “Oppenheimer”, Ryan Gosling as Ken in “Barbie” and Mark Ruffalo for his work in the film “Poor Things”.

All nominees, without a doubt, are winners. Each character played is unique and irreplaceable. The big favorite in this category was Robert Downey Jr., who many consider should have won his first Oscar in 1992, for his work as Charlie Chaplin, in the film “Chaplin.” However, his role as Lewis Strauss made the critics, who once dismissed him as an actor, now fall at his feet.

The moment of truth came when the envelope was opened and Robert Downey Jr.’s name was read out loud and loud. The actor took the stage to a standing ovation, where he gallantly said: “I want to thank my terrible childhood and The Academy, in that order. To my wife… that she found me and rescued me…”

His words generated smiles and laughter. But the actor wasn’t lying. The entertainment world knows that one of the big reasons why he returned to the top of acting was thanks to his wife, Susan Downey, who never gave up and, as the actor says, lifted him up.

The Oscar winner also said that he recognizes the importance of this work in his life, that at the end of the day it is not that this field needs him, but that he needs to be an actor in his life. With this in mind, Robert Downey Jr. left the room with his golden statuette in hand.

News in development.
