Santi Giménez provided an assist, but went goalless in Feyenoord’s crushing 6-0 win over Ajax in the Dutch Classic. With this result, Feyenoord remains stuck in second place behind PSV.

Arne Slot’s team remains in second place, nine points behind, after embarrassing the Amsterdam team, which only has one win in its last five games and remains anchored in sixth position.

Feyenoord’s crushing win

Feyenoord accelerated in the final stretch of the first half, when they dismasted their rival. In the 34th minute, the Brazilian Igor Paixao opened the scoring and one after the Gambian Yankuba Minteh scored the second.

The 3-0 came in added time, just before the intermission, when the Slovakian David Hancko finished off a pass from the Mexican Santi Giménez with another goal, who, once again, was left without scoring.

Santi Giménez was lucky after trying a kind of overhead kick in front of the goal, but the shot went wide right where his teammate was, who pushed it with his head.

John Vant Schip’s team lacked the ability to react, conceding the fourth in the 56th minute. Minteh repeated it, once again beating the Argentine Geronimo Rulli, who returned to the Ajax goal.

The fifth was at game time, signed by Quinten Timber and the win was rounded off by Paixao, in the 66th minute, who scored his second personal goal after receiving a ball from Lutsharel Geertruida.

PSV thrashed and the title is on its way

PSV Eindhoven took another step towards the Eredivisie title with a rout at the Philips Stadion against AZ Alkmaar (5-1), although the Greek Vangelis Pavlidis, scorer of the only visitor goal, remains the competition’s top scorer despite the double from the local Luuk de Jong.

Peter Bosz’s team extended the forceful reaction after conceding their first and so far only defeat in the League, against Nijmegen, last weekend. He rebounded with a victory against Excelsior last Tuesday. Now, with five days left, they achieved a rout against the fourth-placed team.
