The Red Bull team achieved 1-2 in the Bahrain Grand Prix this Saturdayfirst of the 2024 Formula 1 season, thanks to the masterful performance of Max Verstappen and the second place achieved by the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who was satisfied with the result achieved.
The one from Guadalajara completed a great race after starting in fifth place. He left behind Charles Leclerc from Ferarri, George Russell from Mercedes and finally Carlos Sainz Jr., also from the Italian team, with whom he was involved in an intense dispute in the second half of the race.
Despite the joy of the good performance shown, Sergio “Checo” Pérez showed himself with his feet on the ground after the race and he assured that it has been a good way to start this new season, the last of his current contract with the energy drink team.
“It’s the most we could get”acknowledged the Mexican before the forceful demonstration made by his teammate and current champion of the Formula 1with whom he repeated the same result achieved by the Austrian team in Bahrain last season.
“It was a pretty complicated race, you know, with tire management”, noted “Checo” Pérez, who after Friday’s qualifying commented that he hoped that the strategy of saving a set of soft tires for the race would pay off. And in the end they were right.
“I think we learned a lot about the race during the meeting tonight. Overall I think it has been a great way to start the season”completed the 34-year-old Mexican driver, current runner-up in the championship and who added his first podium of the 2024 Formula 1 campaign.
With Sergio “Checo” Pérez facing his last year of his contract with Red Bull, the Mexican aspires to achieve the results expected by the team to opt for a renewal for 2025. The team director, Christian Horner has repeatedly assured that this possibility will depend entirely on what the Mexican does..

The next race scheduled in the long calendar of the 2024 F1 campaign will be next weekend with the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, a test of which the Mexican has fond memories having won it in 2023.
