Eddie Hearn wants a unification fight between Pitbull Cruz and Subriel Matías: “Mexico vs. Puerto Rico” – La Opinion

Eddie Hearn, promoter of Matchroom Boxing, wants Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and Subriel Matías – super lightweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF), respectively – star in a unification fight because you think it would be “really good” and fantastic.

In statements to the media, Hearn explained that, after Matías overcomes his next commitment in the ring, He will speak with Al Haymon to finalize this confrontation with Pitbull Cruz in what would be a battle between Mexico and Puerto Rico.

“If Subriel Matías beats Liam Paro, which is a really good fight, I think we should do Pitbull vs. Matías in a unification fight. I’m going to go to Luis De Cubas and hopefully he’ll go to Al Haymon and say, ‘Do you want to make that fight?’ You have the model in place. You can do it on Prime. It can also be distributed on DAZN. We have Mexico vs. Puerto Rico in a unification,” he said.

That’s an incredible fight. It’s an easy fight to make. Teófimo wants between $15 and $20 million (dollars) for those types of fights, but only if someone wants to put up an obstacle. With Matías and Pitbull, he would let the fighters split the fight money. I wonder if Haymon will accept it. “It would be fantastic for boxing,” he added.

Pitbull Cruz has just dominated Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero from start to finish and kept his mouth shut as he promised before the fight on March 30 to be crowned WBA champion at 140 pounds. The American He could not at any time counteract the power of the Mexican and from the beginning he was hurt with strong blows, but was able to survive on several occasions until the eighth the referee stopped the fight.

Instead, Subriel Matías first will have to put his IBF title on the line for the second time against undefeated contender Liam Paro on June 15 before thinking about a fight with the Mexican later this year. In his last fight, the Puerto Rican defeated Shohjahon Ergashev after he retired in the sixth round due to an injury and defended his title last November.
