The napkin on which Lionel Messi’s first contract with Barcelona was signed goes up for auction this Wednesday in London with a starting price of 300,000 pounds ($374,000 dollars).
The napkin, which dates from December 2000when Messi was barely thirteen years old, represents the commitment of a contract with Barcelona and was signed in blue pen by Carles Rexach, then sports director of the ‘Blaugrana’.
This piece, in the possession of the Argentine agent Horacio Gaggioli, will be offered in an online auction by the Bonhams house, which has exhibited it in recent months in Paris, New York and London.
The auction will run from this May 8 at 12:00 UK time until next May 17.
The contract with FC Barcelona in 2000 changed the fortunes of the Catalan club and also of Messi himself, who has become one of the best players of all time, with numerous titles with Barcelona and the Argentine national team, clike the Copa América and the World Cup in Qatar, as well as eight Ballon d’Or awards.
