When you think about the historical figure of Isaac Newtonit is likely that the first thing that comes to mind is related to mathematics, physics or astronomy. However, very few know the taste that this renowned scientist had for some beliefs related to alchemy, occultism, and even religion. For this reason, numerous academics have been in charge of rescuing the ‘mystical’ side of Newton, and together with him, they have revived documents where he does predictions about him end of the world.

When will the End of the World be according to Isaac Newton?

Taking into account his studies in astronomy and his Protestant interpretations of the Bible, Isaac Newton assured in a letter from the 18th century that the apocalypse would take place in the year 2060. Of course, considering astronomical phenomena that had already been studied in his time, Newton also established said ‘expiration date’ for the world as we know it, and NOT for humanity as such. . Also using mathematical calculations and biblical writings from the Book of Daniel, the famous physicist declared the following:

There are strong reasons to believe that the end of the world will occur 1,260 years after the founding of the Holy Roman Empire (800 AD). It may end later, but I see no reason for it to end sooner. Perhaps the most widespread would be the year 2344, showing a certain standard deviation of the mathematical calculations that have been made until now (…) According to the Bible, Jesus Christ will return to Earth in the year 2060 at least, and would establish a global kingdom of peace.

Although there are no current complementary studies or calculations to the prediction of Isaac Newtonthe letter in which a date is cited for the end of the worldis part of a series of unpublished documents in which the physicist unloaded his hobbies; that is, everything that was not related to the exact sciences. All the manuscripts in question date back almost 300 years, and for now, they are preserved in the archives of the National Library of Israel.

With the letter that Newton left, it can be concluded that we would be 36 years away from reaching the date of ‘End of the world.’ But using his own interpretation, we would be far from witnessing a disaster that ends our lives; rather, we would witness a new order powered by the religious belief that Jesus will return to Earth. In any case, it is interesting to know the positioning of a physicist so essential to history.
