Tite gives Brazil hope in Qatar 2022: “I still believe that Neymar will play again”

Tite, the Brazil coach, insisted that Neymar will play again in the World Cup, despite the ligament injury in his right ankle against Serbia.

“I think that Neymar and Danilo will continue playing in the World Cup, that is my opinion, in medical matters I cannot speak about it, because I am not in that position. We believe that they will be available to play”, Tite admitted at a press conference before facing Switzerland.

Tite was asked if Brazil has lost favoritism by not being able to count on Neymar in the remainder of the group stage.

“Brazil relies on all the great talents it has. Neymar is an exceptional player, but we trust everyone.” assured Tite, who also spoke about the number of fouls, nine, to which Neymar was subjected against Serbia, more than anyone else in the entire first day.

“If you want to reward football, we have to be careful and pay attention to the repetition of fouls, because they focus on particular players and this affects them. This has to stop.”

Regarding Neymar’s injury, Tite reaffirmed that the footballer played several minutes injured against Serbia, but that he did not know it.

“I was injured, but I didn’t realize it. We didn’t have that information, he tried to continue until he couldn’t anymore. Because until then I was able to continue resisting with the team.

Neymar played just 79 minutes against Serbia and began to cry on the bench when he was substituted. Then it was confirmed that the Brazilian soccer player had suffered a sprained ankle which is expected to keep him out of the remaining two group stage matches against Switzerland and Cameroon respectively.

Despite the injury to Brazil’s number 10, the five-time world champion has great players like Antony, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Pedro, Rodrygo, among the variants to replace Neymar for the next two matches of the tournament.
