Uriel Antuna and Argentine Gonzalo Piovi, Cruz Azul players, praised the work of coach Martín Anselmi this Thursdaywhich has taken the team to the top of the Mexican Clausura tournament along with Monterrey and Pachuca.
“I have experienced difficult things in this team, but with Martín we recovered a game idea that we like and with which we feel comfortable; That has been important for the team’s confidence and it is also important for Mexican soccer,” Antuna said.
He recalled the disappointing results in the team’s last tournament, which finished the regular phase in sixteenth place among eighteen participants.

The 2023 season began for Cruz Azul with Brazilian Ricardo Ferretti on the bench, who was replaced on an interim basis by Joaquín Moreno.

Piovi, a 29-year-old winger, who arrived this season from Argentine Colón, highlighted the football concept that his compatriot aims to instill.
“I just arrived and I see that the team found a clear idea. We are very comfortable with her, although we still have room to improve. There are things to correct because this is a big team that has to fight to be at the top every tournament,” said the defender.
Even though the previous week La Maquina lost to the champion América, Piovi assured that that defeat came on time.
“We have shown game by game the hierarchy we have. We are at a high level, but we still have to improve in many aspectsThat’s why I say it was good to lose at this moment because that will help us grow,” he concluded.
Cruz Azul has 19 points, the same as Monterrey and Pachuca with which it shares first place in the Clausura tournament. On matchday ten they will host Guadalajara this Saturday at the Azteca Stadium.
