Vanessa Bryant gave exclusive sneakers to Dodgers players in honor of Kobe Bryant – La Opinion

The players of Los Angeles Dodgers received on Saturday, before their match against the San Diego Padres, a very special gift from Vanessa Bryant, widow of the Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryantas part of the commemoration of the eighth anniversary of his retirement from the NBA.

This is a pair of exclusive sneakers from the Kobe line developed by the Nike brand, which is designed with motifs from the ninth Angelina with blue and white colors predominating. In addition, it had the number ‘8’ in bright red, the same number that Kobe wore during his successful career.

The Dodgers stars, led by Mookie Betts, were excited by the gift that Vanessa Bryant sent them. In a video published on the Los Angeles team accounts, it was possible to see how the players were receiving the game of the special shoes.

Kobe Bryant, one of the best players in the history of the Lakers and the entire NBA, played the last game of his career on April 13, 2016 against the Utah Jazz in a packed Staples Center in Los Angeles. The five-time NBA champion finished with no more and no less than 60 points.

The world of basketball and sports in general was covered in mourning on January 26, 2020 when Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna lost their lives in a helicopter accident. The former Lakers player, the only team he played with in his career, was 41 years old while his daughter was 13.

Since that fateful moment, “Mamba Day” is celebrated every year on August 24, to commemorate the legacy of the former player. The date was chosen taking into account the number 24 (the day) and 8 (the month) that he used during his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

For his part, the manager of the Los Angeles team, Dave Roberts, commented: “Many thanks to Kobe’s family, to Vanessa. These sneakers are amazing. “I am going to wear them in the best Mamba style with great pride.”
