Víctor Manuel Vucetich is back in Liga MX as the new coach of Cañoneros de Mazatlán – La Opinión

With an extensive career that includes managing more than ten Liga MX teams where he has won five titles in more than 30 years of experience on the bench of teams such as León, Tecos, Tigres de la UANL, Cruz Azul, La Piedad, Puebla, Pachuca, Querétaro, Veracruz, Jaguares and Rayados de Monterrey, Víctor Manuel Vucetich, the so-called “King Midas” of Mexican soccer is back in the ring at the head of the Cañoneros de Mazatlán.

The above was confirmed by the Mazatlan team through a press release where he highlights all the achievements of his extensive career that he will try to use in favor of improving the position in the table of the coastal team in the current Clausura 2024 tournament and preventing him from paying the millionaire fine of more than $30 million pesos for being among the three worst teams in the Liga MX quotient table.

Mazatlán FC finished in third-to-last position, adding 103 points in 102 games, with a percentage of 1.009. The team from the Pacific coast managed to get a valuable draw on the last day, which helped them save a lot of money, but did not prevent them from spending $33 million pesos.

For this reason, now the board headed by television businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego decided to bet on Vucetich’s experience and career, taking into account that the last experience with the Spanish Ismael Rescalvo was not the right one, causing the team to shipwreck in an alarming way, despite having important players such as the Paraguayan Luis Amarilla, among others more.

During their stay in Liga MX, the Cañoneros de Mazatlán have been led by the Mexican Francisco Palencia, the late Tomás Boy, the Spanish Beñat San José, the Mexican Christian Ramírez, the Argentine naturalized Mexicans Gabriel Caballero and Rubén Omar Romano, as well as the aforementioned Ismael Rescalvo, who despite his experience could not make the Cañoneros were protagonists in the championship.

Vucetich has also won three Cup championshipsthree CONCACAF Champions League championships, a CONCACAF Cup Winners’ Cup and an Interleague championship and in 2013 he led the Mexican National Team without pain or glory.
