24-year-old Houston Texans catcher injured in shooting in Florida – La Opinion

Tank Dell, wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was injured in a shooting that took place in the city of Sanford, Florida.

“We have been informed that Tank Dell was the victim of a shooting in Sanford, Florida, on Saturday night. He suffered a minor injury, but has already been discharged from the hospital and is in good spirits,” the team wrote through their social networks.

The 24-year-old receiver has only been in the NFL for one year. He was drafted by the Texans in the 2023 draft. in the third round and in his rookie campaign he contributed 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns.

As soon as his team had the information, they did everything possible to communicate with their player to ensure that his injuries were not serious.

“We are already in contact with him and his family and will provide further updates when appropriate, but at this time we ask that you respect their privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident,” the franchise’s message complemented.

What happened at the Sanford, Florida nightclub?

According to official authorities, at least 10 people were injured in the event during the early hours of this Sunday.

Upon arrival Saturday night, officers heard multiple gunshots coming from the rear of the establishment, causing the crowd to disperse.

The 10 injured suffered gunshot wounds, mostly in the lower extremities.

According to information from KPRC in Houston, Dell was there at the time of the shooting at a Sanford nightclub.. The network added that the receiver was not involved in any altercation.

Dell played high school football in Volusia County and is from Daytona Beach.

Authorities said an argument escalated and eventually led to the shooting.. A security guard was able to apprehend the alleged gunman after the shooting.
