Authorities reported that 10 people were injured after a Boeing 737 plane skidded off the runway in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, with 85 people on board.
The Air Sénégal flight, operated by TransAir, was heading to Bamako on Wednesday night with 79 passengers, two pilots and four crew members, said the minister, El Malick Ndiaye, according to The Associate Press.
The injured received treatment at a hospital, while the other survivors had been transferred to a hotel to rest.
Over the course of the week, others three Boeing planes have been involved in incidents in the United States, Canada and Türkiyewhich adds more doubts about the company’s devices when US federal authorities are investigating its quality and safety controls.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday when An Air France Boeing 787-900 traveling from Paris to Seattle (USA) had to make an emergency landing in the Canadian town of Iqaluit, in the Arctic region of the country, after a burning smell was detected in the cabin.
Air France indicated in a statement that the plane was carrying 272 people (260 passengers and 12 crew) and that it was forced to make an emergency landing around 12:00 pm on Tuesday.
The French airline sent a replacement plane from Montreal to transport passengers to New York on Wednesday and from there continue their journey to their final destination in Seattle while investigating the causes of the burning smell.
Also this Wednesday, An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900 flying to Seattle from Cincinnati made another emergency landing shortly after taking off after the failure of one of its two engines, according to local media reports.
Seattle television station Kiro7 said the plane landed safely in Cincinnati and no one was injured.
The third incident also occurred this Wednesday when A Boeing 763 cargo plane of the American logistics company FedEx, from Paris, landed on its nose in Istanbul without any casualties.
Turkish authorities said an apparent hydraulic failure prevented the front landing gear from deploying.
