In the last three days, at least 21,000 encounters with migrants have been recorded at the United States border, according to data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

CBP sources told Fox News that more than 7,000 migrant encounters were recorded on Sunday alone, while Friday and Saturday the numbers were similar.

Leading the meetings from Friday to Sunday was the Tucson sector in Arizona with more than 5,400, while the San Diego sector in California was the second busiest with more than 3,600, according to the media’s sources.

Among the nationalities of migrants entering the United States through the California border, a increase in those from India and Chinaalthough people from nations like Russia can even be found.

Regarding the influx of Chinese migrants, the CBP indicated that around 37,000 citizens of this nationality were detained illegally crossing the border in 2023, a much higher number than the 342 captured in 2021.

Sources told News Nation that the Chinese migrants pay up to $35,000 to reach the United Statesmuch more than the average paid in Central and South America.

Rising numbers in Arizona and California appear to show that illegal crossing traffic is moving away from Texas, where the Rio Grande Valley section near Brownsville and the Del Rio section near Eagle Pass had some of the largest encounters. lows, averaging 300 to 350 per day since Friday.

The more than 7,000 encounters per day remain much lower than the highs seen in December, which officials said were between 10,000 and 11,000 daily.

The apparent shift west comes as Gov. Greg Abbott has asserted that Texas will enforce immigration laws within its borders in the absence of federal enforcement.

Immigration enforcement efforts Abbott has attempted include placing a floating barrier in the Rio Grande and placing barbed wire along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Last month, the Texas National Guard took control of Shelby Park in the city of Eagle Pass and blocked Border Patrol from entering the area, part of Abbott’s effort to stop the rise of illegal immigration into Texas.
