Chicago police announced arrest of suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of Hispanic officer Luis Huescashot dead in the early hours of April 21.

In a release posted on social media, the police department said its officers and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Xavier Tate Jr., 22, for first-degree murder.

Tate’s arrest comes five days after he was identified as the suspect in the homicide of police officer Luis Huesca, 30.

“We ask that the people of this city continue to support the Huesca family by keeping them in their prayers as they continue to mourn the loss of a beloved son, brother and uncle,” the police department said in the statement.
