During an episode of the documentary series “Quiet on the Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” Drake Bell gave several details of the sexual abuse and harassment that he experienced at the age of 15 by the dialogue coach Brian Peckwhen he participated in “The Amanda Show” and “All That”.
“I was sleeping on the couch where I normally slept. I woke up, opened my eyes and he was on me sexually assaulting. I froze and was in complete shock. “I had no idea what to do or how to react, I had no idea how to get out of this situation,” said the actor and singer.
During the documentary series, Drake shared his testimony about the events, remembering that the coach had asked him keep the situation secretin addition to having work arguments to make the young people have to go to his house, where he would then commit more abuses.
“He figured out how to convince my mom and everyone around him that every time he had an audition or every time he needed to work on dialogue or something, he somehow had to end up back at Brian’s house and everything. It got worse and worse… I was just trapped. I had no way out“, he said.
Drake Bell claimed that the alleged abuse was “extensive” and “brutal,” until his father, Joe, got the impression that there was a problem with Peck, considering it abnormal that he spent too much time with him.
“The abuse was extensive and became pretty brutal. I don’t know how to explain that on camera, really… Why don’t you think about the worst things someone could do to someone like sexual assault? Then I will answer your question. “I don’t know how else to say it.”
One day, Drake Bell couldn’t take it anymore and ended up calling his mother to tell her what had happened. Immediately, according to the singer’s story, they called the police and filed the corresponding complaint.
“I had to be excruciatingly detailed about every single thing, (every) time it happened, with two absolute strangers. The worst part was that I had to call Brian to admit what he had done,” the interpreter stated.
