Singer Dua Lipa He finally revealed the “secret” he had kept for the last few months.
“Radical Optimism” will be the British star’s third album that will be released on Friday May 3 and will include 11 songs, of which the two preliminary singles have already been played, “Houdini” and “Training Season.”
The official announcement describes the album as inspired by the energy of Lipa’s hometown of London, as well as the sincerity, honesty, trust and freedom emblematic of the 90s Britpop movement.
“A few years ago, a friend introduced me to the term ‘radical optimism.’ It is a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I began to play with it and integrate it into my life,” said the interpreter, in a statement.
“I was struck by the idea of moving through chaos with grace and feeling like you can weather any storm. At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip hop and Britpop. He has always seemed so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude It’s a feeling I brought to my recording sessions.”
Among the collaborators of the imminent material are Kevin Parker (leader of Tame Impala) and Danny L. Harle (collaborator of Caroline Polachek and Charli XCX), as well as Tobias Jesso Jr.
Although little is known about the sound of the new album, Dua Lipa recently revealed to The New York Times that she was inspired by ’70s psychedelia. However, in a conversation with Variety in late 2023, she revealed that the album had given a complete turn while working on it.
“I will continue writing in the first few months of the new year and see where that takes me. The album is different, it’s still pop, but there’s a difference in sound and a more lyrical approach. “If I told you the title, it would all make sense, but I think we’ll have to wait,” he told the magazine.
